About the Metals Used by Foxweave Studios
-
Material: Stainless Steel
I work with 304L 1/4 Hard stainless steel, and purchase it from a maker who tumbles all rings for a smooth and clean finish. This is a hypoallergenic metal that will not rust, tarnish, or mark your skin. Stainless steel is easy to maintain, can be worn constantly without worry, and can be cleaned with your preferred hand soap or a quick wash in Dawn blue soap.

Material: Titanium
I work in both anodized and raw titanium. Anodized titanium has an outside oxidized layer from a current of electricity that is passed along the metal. Titanium is a hypoallergenic metal, perfect for those who metal allergies. Titanium can be maintained with a soft cloth and periodically washed with a warm, soapy Dawn blue bath.

Material: Anodized Aluminum
Anodized aluminum pieces are the lightest of the pieces I create. Though light, they will still be extremely durable pieces! Anodized aluminum is created with a combination of dye, heat, and electricity to create brilliantly colored rings that can be woven together in all sorts of combinations. Since anodized aluminum is coated, it will not tarnish, mark your skin, or rust.

Material: Niobium
Niobium for another hypoallergenic metal that can be anodized with electricity to create brilliant colors that give slightly different color shifts based on the light the piece is exposed to. Niobium will not rust, mark your skin, or permanently fade. If your piece seems to be losing a bit of it's shine, just give it a cleaning with a window cleaner such as Windex, followed by a quick rinse, and the full shine will return.
More About Foxweave Studios
Adjustable Lengths
I weave most pieces of chainmail and scalemail to a standard length, around 8" for bracelets and 23-25" for necklaces. That said, each piece in my collection can be adjusted shorter or longer, if you wish! Reach out over the site, or e-mail me at wyn@foxweave.com, and I will happily adjust to your desired length.
LGBTQIA+ Representation
I'm part of the community, as a non-binary artisan, and want my pieces to provide represenation and my booth to be a safe space at all shows Foxweave Studios attends. If you are looking for a piece in a color set that is missing in my collection, or marked as sold out, please reach out to me and I will gladly create something special for you.
Toys for Fidget and Play
Fidget scale strands are amazing for a sensory toy. They are perfect for running fingers along the scales for tactile needs, and they can be rattled in just the right way to create a gentle buzzing sound for an aurally pleasing and soothing sound.
Colors To Match Your Imagination
See a piece you love, but want a different color of bead, or a different pairing of metal colors? I can do that. Each piece I make is handwoven, and so each piece can be made in different colors if the metal is available in the color you wish. If it is not, we can discuss alternatives to create the piece of your dreams.
Send me an e-mail at wyn@foxweave.com with a link to the piece you are interested in, and we'll discuss what I can make for you!
